At 10:35 this morning, OPP officers from Powassan stopped a vehicle on Highway 11 in East Ferris, just north of Highway 94, for "Failing to Move Over for Emergency Vehicle."

When officers spoke to the driver, they smelled an odour of alcohol coming from the driver's breath. Officers demanded a roadside breath sample and the driver registered an ALERT or "Warn Range".

The OPP can issue an immediate roadside driver's license suspension to drivers who register a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) in the "Warn Range" of .05 to .08.

A 60-year-old man from North Bay was issued a three-day roadside suspension and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

At the same time, officers from Mattawa responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle speeding, swerving and crossing the centre line on numerous occasions. The vehicle and driver were located on Valois Drive in Mattawa.

When officers spoke to the driver, they smelled an odour of alcohol coming from the driver's breath so demanded a breath sample. The driver registered a FAIL and was placed under arrest and taken for further breath tests. The breath tests revealed that the driver had over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

As a result, Eric Koscielniak, 24, of Sudbury, has been charged with "Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood."

The accused's driver's licence will be suspended for 90 days with an Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
