At a ceremony held at police headquarters this morning with family, friends and colleagues, two North Bay Police Service cadets were sworn-in as police constables.

Cst. Braeden Ransom is a former student of Widdifield Secondary School, and an honours graduate of Canadore College’s Police Foundations Program.

Ransom began his career as a security guard and a security shift supervisor with the North Bay Regional Health Centre, and as an asset protection guard with Detour Lake Gold Corporation. Over the years, he has been active as a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross, the North Bay Heritage Festival, and the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area.

Constable Ryan Robertson is also a graduate of Widdifield Secondary School and as a post-secondary student at Canadore College, he participated in the North Bay Police Service’s Mentorship Program and later graduated from the Police Foundation Program. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Nipissing University.

In March 2013, the North Bay Police Service hired Robertson as a special constable. He is an active member of the community, as a referee with the Northern Ontario Hockey Association and as a volunteer with the North Bay Youth Soccer Club.

Both police officers successfully completed their training at Ontario Police College, from where they graduated in early April.
