Today marked the launch of River and Sky Music/Camping Festival’s 2016 poster.
The many-paned panels within the logo were hand drawn by artist Kallie Berens, of Sudbury, who came up with the concept which incorporates more than 3,000 layers within the R&S letters. Graphic Design and layout of the poster was done by Sean Grant and printing by Sudbury’s Journal Printing, a sponsor of the festival.
“I enjoy doodling lines and I thought it would be great to incorporate the themes of the festival as hidden shapes within the lines,” said Berens.
As e-tickets countdown, a batch of physical tickets featuring Berens’ design were also released into stores today for the festival that takes place July 14 to 17, along the banks of the Sturgeon River, at Fishers’ Paradise.
The venue is located partway between North Bay and Sudbury in the community of Field, West Nipissing.
Four-Day ($180) or 3-Day ($135) tickets will be available at the Fashion Art Retail Market (FARM) at 154 Main St. West in North Bay on Friday.
Kids 16 and younger, get in for free with their parents.
Acts headlining the eighth R&S Festival include: Polaris short-listed Hey Rosetta!, New York’s indie-surf-rockersBeach Fossils, alt-country and psych gurus The Sadies, the noise-rock of Ottawa’s METZ, and electrifying singer-songwriter Basia Bulat.
