News release: BREAK, ENTER AND THEFT TO A PERRY TWP RESIDENCE

(PERRY TWP, ON) – On Monday October 19, 2015 at approximately 11:00 p.m. the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break enter and theft to an Old Novar Road residence.  
Police investigation revealed that unknown person(s) stole three large solar panels from the roof of the residence, a 3000 watt power inverter and a Prostar 30 solar charger controller.  Police are continuing to investigate.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.

OPP LOCATE MISSING HIKER IN ALGONQUIN PARK

(ALGONQUIN PARK, ON) - On Wednesday October 14, 2015 a 52 year old male from Barrie Ontario went backpacking in Algonquin Park at the Rain Lake Road access point.  The missing male was expected to return home from the park on Sunday October 18, 2015, but failed to do so.

On Tuesday October 20, 2015 the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to help locate the overdue hiker in.  Almaguin Highlands OPP officers, along with North East Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine and the OPP helicopter started searching for the overdue hiker.  On Wednesday October 21, 2015 OPP located the male and returned him to his family.  The male was not injured.                                                         

OPP ARREST THREE PEOPLE FROM LONDON ONTARIO WITH POSSESSION FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFICKING IN MARIHUANA

(MACHAR TWP, ON) – On Thursday October 22, 2015 at approximately 5:15p.m., the Highway Safety Division of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling Highway 124 in Machar Township.  OPP stopped a vehicle and subsequently arrested the driver and two passengers.

Charged are:
Jennifer COBBAN, 38 of London Ontario with trafficking in schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana under three kilograms, contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and two counts of breach of recognizance, contrary to section 811 of the Criminal Code.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in Parry Sound, Ontario.

Mathew KILBOURNE, 43 of London Ontario with trafficking in schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana under three kilograms, contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and breach of recognizance, contrary to section 811 of the Criminal Code.
The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in Parry Sound, Ontario.

Kevin TURCOTTE, 40 of London, Ontario with trafficking in schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana under three kilograms, contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and drive while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.  The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday November 26, 2015 in Sundridge, Ontario.

BREAK ENTER AND THEFT TO AN ARMOUR TWP RESIDENCE

(ARMOUR TWP, ON) – On Friday October 23, 2015 at approximately 9:00 p.m. the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break enter and theft to a Den Drive residence.

Sometime between June 2015 and October 24, 2015 unknown person(s) entered the residence and stole a large screen television, a pellet gun and several miscellaneous items.  Police are continuing to investigate.

BREAK ENTER AND THEFT TO A LOUNT TWP RESIDENCE

(LOUNT TWP, ON) – On Saturday October 24, 2015, the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a break enter and theft to a Deer Lake Road Residence.

Unknown person(s) entered the residence garage and stole a trolling motor, a batter charger, a 15 ton orange Speeco gas powered log splitter, a five ton electric log splitter, a Stihl chainsaw, an electric air compressor, two tackle boxes with lures, four fishing pole and a Rapala rod and reel.  The value of the missing items is approximately $3500.

OPP ARREST SUNDRIDGE MAN FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

(LAURIER TWP, ON) – On Sunday October 25, 2015 at approximately 9:00 p.m. the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to investigate a motor vehicle collision on Highway 11.

Police investigated the collision, which resulted in a pickup truck colliding with another vehicle on the highway.  Further investigation led to the arrest of Donald GILSON, 51 of Sundridge Ontario who was charged with driving with the following.
• Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of a schedule II substance – cannabis marihuana, under 30 grams, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday November 26, 2015 in Sundridge, Ontario.
