News release: Year after year this sweet treat keeps on giving! There were plenty of smiles shared in North Bay during the week of September 14th, and the annual Tim Hortons’ Smile Cookie campaign. For one week, Tim Hortons’ guests had the opportunity to purchase chocolate chunk Smile Cookies for $1, with all proceeds from the sales supporting the North Bay Food Bank.
An incredible $31,780 was raised through this year’s Smile Cookie campaign for the food bank!
What began as a way to fundraise for the Hamilton Children's Hospital in Ontario in 1996, has grown into a major fundraising event across North America. In 2013, the Smile Cookie campaign raised $5 million across Canada and the United States. Nationally, Tim Hortons Restaurant Owners support more than 500 local charities through the campaign. “We would like to thank Tim Hortons for choosing the food bank to be the recipient of the Smile Cookie Campaign for the second year in a row,” said Amber Livingstone, Manager of the North Bay Food Bank. “We also want to thank everyone who purchased a smile cookie during the campaign. The community has once again shown their support for the food bank, and its clients. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of North Bay and Tim Hortons. The monies raised will be used in the best interest of the North Bay Food Bank.”
The North Bay Food Bank is available to take food and monetary donations year round. The food bank is located at 1016 Fisher Street in North Bay and is open to serve clients Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., and Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. For more information, call the North Bay Food Bank at 705-495-3290.
