This blue light special was no bargain for the driver

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police saw a vehicle with blue lights on the front of the vehicle.

On August 28, 2016, members of the East Algoma OPP were on regular patrol duties on Highway 548 within Tarbutt Additional Township.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police saw a vehicle with blue lights on the front of the vehicle. 

A traffic stop was conducted on Highway 17.  The male driver produced an expired insurance card.  The female passenger was the registered owner and could not produce an updated insurance card. 

Why? An investigation revealed the car was not insured.

As a result, Kristy BUDGE, 18 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, was charged with: 

  • Owner Cause Operation of Motor Vehicle on a Highway-No Insurance, 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on October 12, 2016.

Brandon WILLIAMS, 20 years of age, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was issued two provincial offence notices and charged with:

  • Drive Motor Vehicle, No Validation on Plates, and
  • Unauthorized Red and Blue Lights at Front.

The vehicle was towed.
