Temagami Christmas light display doubles in size

Service groups, local organizations and businesses were invited to set up light displays and there seemed to be twice as many displays as last year.

The Temagami Country Christmas included light displays that took you through a ‘magical trail’ through the woods behind (hosts) Peacock Woodcraft furniture manufacturing facility 1 km north of Temagami.

Along with Peacock Woodcraft, service groups, local organizations and businesses were invited to set up light displays and there seemed to be twice as many displays as last year.

The estimated number of visitors between the two nights (Dec 4 and 5) was 750-950; locals and visitors from Sturgeon Falls, North Bay, Englehart, New Liskeard and surrounding areas.

Children had a visit with Santa, made crafts, sipped on hot chocolate and roasted hotdogs by the campfire.

There was a small petting zoo with alpacas, pony and giant rabbit.

A wagon ride took you down the road for a short ride to see even more Christmas light displays.

Many volunteers assisted during the event, which was again well received.  It was a free event but food donations were collected for the Temagami Legion Christmas Hamper Program.  A real community spirit – people giving their time and efforts to make smiles of everyone’s faces at this time of year.
