News release: NORTH BAY, ON, November 25, 2015 – Union Gas supports North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) improvements to the Chippewa Creek EcoPath, courtesy of a $2,000 grant awarded today.

Kristel Gobby, utility services workload planning assistant manager, Union Gas, presented the cheque to Dave Mendicino, NBMCA Board chair, at an NBMCA board meeting.

The Chippewa Creek EcoPath is a community initiative to restore and enhance the natural values and heritage of Chippewa Creek through education and stewardship. Union Gas’ donation will support stewardship initiatives that include the Adopt-the-Creek program to protect and enhance this watercourse that has significant economic, social and environmental value to the community.

“Union Gas cares about the environment,” said Gobby. “That’s why we support important environmental conservation programs in the communities we serve. North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority stewardship efforts at Chippewa Creek EcoPath will make a difference, and that is important to us at Union Gas.”

“The health of our watershed depends on our community’s ability to balance human needs with the needs of the natural environment. Our stewardship initiatives are geared towards getting people involved in activities that help maintain and preserve that balance.  Union Gas’ donation to our stewardship efforts and the EcoPath helps make that happen,” said Dave Mendicino, NBMCA Chair.
