Masons across Ontario are laying a new foundation supporting three leading-edge prostate cancer research centres to thwart the cruel disease, says a news release from the group.

On April 1 Strong Masonic Lodge hosts a very special evening of dinner and entertainment with proceeds going to Prostate Hope, a multi-year campaign from the Grand Lodge of the Province of Ontario, marking two significant milestones in Ontario Masonic history.

The year 2017 marks 300 years of Masonry in what is now known as the Province of Ontario and the pinnacle of Prostate Hope, a special project celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Masonic Foundation of Ontario.

“We are proud to support such important work at these Ontario prostate cancer research centres, knowing it will surely benefit not just members of our fraternity but families across the province and around the world,” said one of the fundraising dinner coordinators John Kellough.

Money raised at the dinner in South River will go to McMaster University where they have developed a robotic tool for prostate surgeries and are furthering study into new surgical techniques for faster recoveries. Queen’s University’s research program into psychological needs of patients and their families is being supported along with Western University’s research into genes and prostate cancer development.

Prostate Hope is a multi-year pledge from Ontario Masons to support these research programs.

Strong Lodge’s evening will include a catered dinner of local-raised, free range turkey, silent auction and other opportunities to support this worthy endeavour.

Entertainment for the evening features Lukas Stark Mystery Entertainer, a man laying claim to being a magician, mentalist, musician, vaudevillian, hypnotist and more.

Tickets are available by calling Brother John Kellough at 705-386-2879, Brother Gary Radey at 705-789-1720, Brother Terry Hornibrook at 705-384-5432, or Brother Colin Clark at 705-386-0490. Dress is smart casual.

“We extend a hand of friendship and brotherly love to welcome everyone to what should be a tremendous evening of food and entertainment supporting such good work here in Ontario.”
