(ELK LAKE, ON) Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting Motorized Snow Vehicle (MSV) enforcement on March 10, 2015. Throughout their patrols, more than 200 kilometres of Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) trails and lakes were travelled.
Police observed a group of MSV’s travelling together at a high rate of speed on an OFSC trail in Elk Lake. Through investigation four operators are facing several charges.
David DAM, 29, of Fonthill is charged with speeding, fail to produce evidence of insurance and fail to display registration number contrary to the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
Alfred KIERS, 55, of Wainfleet is charged with speeding, fail to produce evidence of insurance and fail to display evidence of permit contrary to the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
Jeffery VANDERSTELT, 28, of Fenwich is charged with disobey sign, fail to produce licence and fail to display registration number contrary to the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
Trevor ZWIER, 26, of Whitchurch-Stouffville is charged with speeding contrary to the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
