North Bay, ON – The Cycling Advocates of Nipissing in partnership with Discovery Routes Trails Organization will be hosting Nipissing’s inaugural “Share the Road” cycling event on September 12th, 2015.

The road ride is a unique celebration linking one of the oldest forms of transportation in Canada, the canoe, and one of the fastest growing modes of transportation, the bicycle. North Bay is strategically located between two historically important watersheds, the Ottawa River to the east and the Great Lakes to the west. The historic La Vase Portages, a series of three portages linking Trout Lake to Lake Nipissing, are well-known as part of the voyageur route followed by European explorers and fur traders. The cycling event references this significant watershed divide and celebrates the outstanding natural, cultural and recreational values of the area.

The ride features a beautiful, challenging 80km route option for experienced riders as well as a scenic 33km route for recreational riders. All participants will feast on an excellent post-ride meal and be entertained by the amazing Trevor “Bycrobat” Bodogh who will be showcasing his impressive bike trial skills throughout the day. Full event details and registration can be found on the website: discoveryroutes.ca/shredtheshed. Early Bird registration ends on August 15th, 2015.
