Seventeen violent crimes investigated by local OPP in March

During the month of March, the North Bay Detachment of the OPP responded to 529 calls for service, including the following incidents:

  •  3 Impaired Driving Incidents
  • 41 Motor Vehicle Collisions
  • 17 Violent Crimes
  • 29 Property Crimes
  • 4 Drug-Related Occurrences

"The Ontario Provincial Police are holding a month-long gun amnesty program in April," Staff Sergeant Chris Summersby, Detachment Commander, said in a news release. "The OPP Gun Amnesty will provide residents with a safe way to surrender weapons, imitation weapons and related equipment and ammunition which they are not legally entitled to own or no longer want, to enhance public and police officer safety."
