After years of lobbying, tenants and visitors at Villa Aubin in Sturgeon Falls now have an operational elevator.
It will make life at the two-storey senior’s complex significantly easier and safer for residents of the 58 units.
The Nipissing District Housing Corporation spent $290,000 to fund the cost of the elevator.
“The elevator will provide all residents with new freedom, particularly the ones on the second floor who have mobility or health issues who are challenged with using the stairs," says Pauline Martin, President of the building’s tenant association. "They can now visit others and easily leave the building. We are so grateful and the tenant association is very excited about this,”
“The tenants and visitors who have been requesting an elevator at Villa Aubin have been heard. We are so pleased it is now a reality” says board member Dan Roveda.
NDHC owns and operates 831 residential units in the Nipissing District of which 150 are located in West Nipissing.
