On Saturday August 27, 2016, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a complaint from a female alleging that she had been assaulted.
As a result of the initial police investigation, Constable Jarrott Forsyth, a nine-year veteran of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, who was off duty at the time of the incident, was arrested and charged with assault (non-domestic).
The ongoing investigation, which was conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in an additional criminal charge being laid.
Jarrott Forsyth is now facing an additional charge of assault (non-domestic) in relation to this incident and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Sault Ste. Marie on Monday October 3, 2016.
