Phone tip leads to drunk driving charge

Police received a call from a concerned citizen about a westbound vehicle weaving in and out of its lane and into the oncoming traffic lane.

On January 22, at approximately 9 p.m., North Bay OPP received a call from a concerned citizen about a westbound vehicle weaving in and out of its lane and into the oncoming traffic lane.

The vehicle was located on Highway 17, Commanda Township. 

Police stopped the vehicle and, upon further investigation, the driver, Guylain Mayotte, age 51, Sturgeon Falls, was charged with:

  • Care or Control Over 80 mgs., and
  • Driving While Ability Impaired, 

Mayotte was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on February 15.
