Personal support worker charged with theft

Police began an investigation when an elderly female complained that she noticed there was over $150 in cash and gift cards missing from her wallet.

On June 13, 2016, members of the East Algoma OPP with the assistance of the East Algoma Crime Unit, responded to a theft of cash and gift cards at senior’s building on Hudson Street in Blind River.    

Police began an investigation when an elderly female complained that she noticed there was over $150 in cash and gift cards missing from her wallet after a Personal Support Worker (PSW) had been in her apartment on June 10.

As a result of the investigation, Danielle Lafrance, 26 years of age, from Blind River, was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5,000, and
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.
