An effort is underway to keep graduating Nipissing University students in North Bay.

The Labour Market Group has partnered with the university's Student Union and YES Employment to offer a series of workshops entitled Build Your Future.

Of particular interest to new graduates is finding and keeping a job.

"Graduating students from Nipissing have plenty of career opportunities right here in North Bay" states LMG's Executive Director, Stacie Fiddler. "Providing these sessions will not only help to inform students of local employment options but will help to build the confidence they need to achieve success in the workplace."

Each month the Labour Market Group's job study indicates that hundreds of jobs are available locally.

It's hoped these sessions provide the first step in retaining post-secondary students by providing linkages to local employers and providing awareness of local workforce opportunities.

The launch and kick off of the event series will take place on January 16 from 1-2:30 on the university campus.

The series of five different sessions will cover such topics as Professional Job Search and Interview Etiquette, My Degree and the Job Market, Excelling in the Professional Workplace and Financial Information for the Post Secondary Graduate.
