For two weeks in July, Parker's Your Independent Grocer raised money at the cash registers for a local charity. This year it chose P.A.D.D.L.E. as the recipient of the monies raised.
"Today we presented the cheque to a very happy crowd. Truly a great group of individuals!!" said Owner-Manager Stuart Parker.
Parker's is looking to help raise awareness and help drive funding into this very important program.
"We plan on doing the same thing next July as they really found a spot in our hearts in their short time at the store today," added Parker.
The cheque presentation from their "Give a Little" campaign was for $5,045.
"We chose P.A.D.D.L.E as our charity of choice. P.A.D.D.L.E is a local organization that was put together in 2002 as a parent-driven initiative to offer a structured, meaningful, inclusive and community based environment where dependent adults with developmental disabilities could continue to thrive and grow socially, physically, emotionally and intellectually.
"We were overwhelmed today with the turn out as they brought an entire group down to the store to accept the cheque. The cheering and applause was electrifying as we presented the funds to them. Truly an eye-opening, heartwarming experience.
