(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – With the holiday season upon us and the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in effect in our area. The OPP is reminding motorists to make the right choice and that if you plan on drinking alcohol this festive season, plan to not drive.
The Festive R.I.D.E. campaign runs from November 24, 2014 to January 2, 2015. The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. This far into the campaign the OPP has dedicated over thirty (30) hours and has:
· Issued 7 Automatic Drivers Licence Suspensions (ADLS)
· 4 impaired driving charges
· 1 other Criminal Code (CC) charge
“It is disturbing to see that the trend of impaired driving is still occurring in our communities. Our officers will be conducting RIDE checks day and night throughout the Festive RIDE season in an attempt to curb this illegal and dangerous act.
