ELLIOT LAKE –On December 14, shortly after 6 a.m., members of the East Algoma OPP responded to assist the Algoma District Paramedic Services at a residence on Bailey Lane in the City of Elliot Lake.
A child who was in medical distress was transported to local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The Elliot Lake OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) Detective Inspector Mark Zulinski , the OPP Criminal Identification Services (FIS) and the Office of the Chief Coroner are conducting an investigation into the death of a child.
The investigation is continuing and further information will be released as it becomes available.
