North Bay driver charged after hitting a lamp post

There were four occupants in the vehicle, one taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries

The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the OPP is continuing the investigation involving a single-vehicle accident that occurred in Sundridge on John Street and Highway 124 on December 23.  

At 8: a.m., a motor vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 124 struck a lamp post. There were four occupants in the vehicle, with one taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Further investigation has resulted in a 26-year-old man from North Bay being charged with:

  • Two counts of mischief over $5,000
  • Three counts of mischief endangering life
  • Dangerous operation
  • Three counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance-other drugs
  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking-other drugs

Assisting in the investigation is an OPP Reconstructionist, Technical Collision Investigators and the Almaguin Highlands Crime Unit.

The accused, who was not named by police to protect the victim, is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on January 24.
