Northerners recovering from addiction and people who work to help encourage them, participated in a North Bay area celebration event held September 23 and 24 to help build awareness, challenge societal stigma, and celebrate the role that recovery plays in improving the lives of individuals, families, workplaces and communities.
The NE LHIN’s Senior Director, Cynthia Stables (shown left in photo above with Anthony Rota, MP; Wendy Prieur, Executive Director, North Bay Recovery Home; and Al McDonald, Mayor, North Bay), spoke of the ways the NE LHIN supports mental health and addictions programs across Northeastern Ontario, including a recently established Mental Health and Addictions Collaborative this fall. The Collaborative will develop a plan to implement the recent recommendations from Dr. Brian Rush’s Addictions Review, along with those outlined in a mental health Blueprint undertaken by Health Sciences North and North Bay Regional Health Centre. The review contains a series of recommendations (read the Regional Executive Summary or go to www.nelhin.on.ca).
