No lights on vehicle leads to drug charges

Officers detected a strong odour of marijuana emanating from the vehicle

On November 26, at 11:33 p.m.,  East Algoma OPP officers were on general patrol on Highway 17 in Blind River.

They saw an eastbound motor vehicle travelling with no headlights or taillights on. A traffic stop was conducted and officers detected a strong odour of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. 

After an investigation, the driver was arrested and vehicle searched.

The search of the vehicle revealed drug-related paraphernalia, marijuana, numerous cell phones, and approximately $33,650 in cash.   

Oronde Nicosi Gordon, 23, of Niagara Falls, is charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule II Substance - Cannabis Marijuana, under 30 grams, 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Over $5,000, 

Gordon is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, Ontario on February 1, 2018.

Members from the Northeast Region Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit (PAFU), East Algoma Crime Unit and uniform members were involved with the investigation.
