New School Effectiveness Leader hired at school board

The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l’Ontario (CSPNE) has hired Joël McLean as its new Director/ School Effectiveness Leader.

McLean began his career as a science and chemistry teacher in 1997 and for the past 15 years has served as a principal, guiding improvement initiatives, and providing instructional leadership to staff and students in elementary, middle, and high schools. 

From 2014 to 2018 he coached French Ontario principals as an Instructional Leader with the CFORP. He supported the development of leadership skills of principals and accompanied school board educational teams on the issue of teaching and learning in the era of global competencies says a news release.

“Joël McLean’s candidacy meets the expectations and needs of CSPNE’s educational team and vision of continuous improvement. Energetic and motivating, Joël is a nationally certified coach, who brings a wealth of coaching experience that focuses on the pursuit of excellence that will help him actively contribute to our initiatives while supporting the ongoing growth and learning of students in schools across our territory”, says Associate Director of Education Yves Laliberté.

McLean will assume his new duties on August 16.

He succeeds Pauline Plutino who has accepted a position with the Ministry of Education.
