New Pete Handley roast date

Honorary Colonels, representing the various squadrons of the military located at Canadian Forces Base North Bay, revealed the amended date for their inaugural fundraising roast.

The event for the Pete Handley Roast, moved from May 2016, will take place on Wednesday, September 21 at the Davedi Club complete with live entertainment from Jet Stream, the internationally-renowned Royal Canadian Air Force band ensemble.

The revenues from this event will assist the Honorary Colonels to provide support for the many military events that take place on an annual basis. 

The initial honouree will be Peter Handley. Handley has long history of community involvement best known for over 40 years of involvement in local media at various levels, founding member of the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame, nine years as a city councillor as well as involvement in numerous community, regional and provincial organizations.

Speakers all have been associated with Handley in a wide variety of areas and will include Bob Wood, Garth Goodhew, Bill Jacko, Jan Perfect, Brent Pigott, Peter Handley Jr. and Dave Saad among others. 

When informed that he was to be the first honouree, Handley commented, “I am most pleased to be “honoured” as the first person the Honorary Colonels will be roasting. Our family has strong ties to the military, as our son in law, Major Leo Phillips, was quite involved with the establishment.”

The event will be held at the Davedi Club on Wednesday, September 21 starting at 6 p.m. Tickets to this events are $50 each will include a full Italian dinner, live entertainment and a lot of laughs.
