Near North Student Accepted to Competitive Summer Enrichment Program

Many SHAD fellows go on to future honours including Loran and Rhodes Scholarships, Top 20 under 20 and more.

News release: NORTH BAY, ON – February 26, 2016 – The Near North District School Board is very proud to announce that Grade 10 Chippewa Secondary School student, Victoria Zhou has been accepted into the highly competitive SHAD Valley summer enrichment program. 

The month long summer program is delivered at a host Canadian University and is built around science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines.

Victoria has selected her top choices but won’t know her final destination until March.

“I’m really hoping for the University of British Columbia, because of the lively university spirit and exceptional setting,” said Victoria.

Upon completion of the program, she will receive the SHAD Fellow Designation and can receive future scholarship and internship opportunities.  Many SHAD fellows go on to future honours including Loran and Rhodes Scholarships, Top 20 under 20 and more.

Victoria achieves top honours in the pre-International Baccalaureate Program at Chippewa, has strong musical talents and actively contributes to her community.
