Movie night feeds the hungry

In lieu of charging admission we decided to ask our guests for donations to "The Gathering Place".

Here's a good news story courtesy of Jeannette Michel-Barnes, president of the parent council at her daughter's school École catholique Saints-Anges.

On Friday the 13th this May, the parent council with the help of staff at École catholique Saints-Anges hosted what's becoming the annual "family" movie night that is now called "Ciné-griffons".

"At this event we show a popular movie and invite students and their families to join us as a family (our school family) and watch a movie together," she told BayToday.

"This year we were lucky to be able to show "Zootopia" in French.  In lieu of charging admission we decided to ask our guests for donations to 'The Gathering Place'.

"We received a generous amount of donations of foods items as well as gift cards and monies that we donated to "The Gathering Place" to help them in their efforts in feeding North Bay's less fortunate.

"We managed to collect about eight baskets and six bags full of food items."
