OPP ARREST SOUTH RIVER MAN FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

Police were patrolling the Village of South River on Sunday October 16, at approximately 10:30 p.m.  Officers observed a motorcycle on Ottawa Avenue and followed the vehicle, attempting to stop the driver.  The driver continued at a high rate of speed in the Village and eventually stopped on Dublin Street.

Officers spoke to the driver and subsequently arrested and charged the driver, Robert BOLTON, 32 of South River Ontario with the following offences:

• Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle, 
• Driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, 
• Flight while pursued by police officer,
• Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, 
• Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner, 
• Driver fail to surrender licence, 

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday November 24, 2016 in Sundridge.

ALMAGUIN HIGHLANDS INVESTIGATES THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

Also, the Almaguin Highlands OPP is investigating the theft of a Hewitt Packard laptop computer that was taken from a vehicle on Ontario Street in the Village of Burk’s Falls. 

Sometime on Monday October 3, unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and stole the computer. Police are continuing to investigate and any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority.
