Moose hit four times on highway 17

'It was in a valley and very dark outside'

It's a bad time of year for animals on local highways and this was demonstrated Sunday night during a collision on Highway 17 in Papineau-Cameron Township near Mattawa.

OPP say the accident occurred around 6 p.m. when four vehicles hit the same moose.

"It was in a valley and very dark outside. One person brought to the hospital with minor injuries," said Shona Camirand, OPP Community Safety Officer.

The highway was closed while the debris was cleared off the road.
