Moose ends up in canal, needs to be rescued (2 photos)

Kevin Girardi says the beautiful animal eventually made its own way to shore

It's unclear how it got in there, but this moose was having a hard time getting out of the Sault Canal this morning.

Kevin Girardi said he went down to the river to see if he could spot the Norgoma as it headed through the Soo Locks on the U.S. side. The Norgoma was long gone, but Girardi said he noticed Parks Canada and MNRF vehicles assembled at the Canadian lock.

"I went to see what was going on out of curiosity and saw this beautiful moose trapped," said Girardi.

Girardi took a few photos and watched while an MNRF crew tried to coax the animal to the edge of the canal. Eventually, the moose made its own way to land near the U.S. side.
