McCool back as Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board Chair

At its organizational meeting on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board appointed Barbara McCool and Jacques Bégin as Chair and Vice-Chair respectively.

McCool has served as Trustee with the Board for over 40 years, having first been elected as a Trustee in 1977.

McCool has served as Chair of the Board since 2009 and has been involved in many initiatives during her tenure, previously serving as both member and chair of the NPSC Special Education Advisory Committee.

Bégin has served as Trustee with the Board since November of 1997 and was Chair of the Board in 2008-2009.

Trustees George Whittet (North Bay), Shawn Fitzsimmons (North Bay), Linda Jamieson (North Bay), John Willemsen (West Nipissing) and Judy Manitowabi (Nipissing First Nations) also serve on the Board.

“I am honoured and proud to serve as the Chair of the Board again this year,” said McCool.

“As we begin our final full year in our term, it is our role as Trustees to ensure we’ve met our system goals, also known as our ENDS statements. As we review all of the data we have collected over the past three few years we are proud of our accomplishments and will continue to work to ensure our students maintain the high standard of success. Thank you to our senior administration and all staff, for their hard work and dedication,” she said.

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board provides high-quality Catholic education to approximately 2900 students in 11 elementary schools, one secondary school, and an alternative and continuing education program. The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board serves North Bay, West Nipissing, Mattawa, Powassan and Callander.
