News Release: At its regular Board meeting Tuesday evening, the Near North District School Board officially swore in Louise Sargent to assume the role of Trustee.  Mrs. Sargent will fill the vacancy created by the passing of long-time Trustee and former Chair Kathy Hewitt.  While all trustees are elected to represent the interests of the entire district, Mrs. Sargent has been selected as the trustee for the City of North Bay, Zone One.

Louise Sargent declared her interest in English public education as candidate in the 2014 election.  In her 33 years as a teacher with the Near North District School Board and predecessor Nipissing Board of Education Louise dedicated her time to helping students fulfill their potential.  She retired in June 2014.

She is looking forward to the opportunity of using her background and knowledge to continue to advocate for students.

Chair David Thompson and the Board of Trustees, along with staff and students, welcome Louise to this very important role in education.

The Near North District School Board is focused on Excellence in Education, as it serves more than 10,000 students at 31 elementary schools, 7 secondary schools and one alternative and continuing education centre in the districts of Parry Sound and Nipissing.
