Lots of charges in car, motorcycle and gun theft

With the motorcycle, the male proceeded to cause damage at the Hearst Golf Club.

(HEARST, ON) – On September 2, 2016, approximately 5:50 a.m., the James Bay Detachments Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was advised of a motor vehicle collision on Laflamme Road in Casgrain Township, just north of the Town of Hearst.

Police investigation revealed that a male attended a residence on Alexandra Street, broke into a garage and stole a firearm and ammunition. The suspect then attended a residence on Laflamme Road, entered a garage and stole some stereo equipment as well as a chainsaw. From that property, the male stole the motor vehicle that was involved in the motor vehicle collision.

The male returned to the residence on Laflamme Road stole a motocross type of motorcycle. With the motorcycle, the male proceeded to cause damage at the Hearst Golf Club.

The male was identified as, Joey BERUBE, 19, of Hearst, Ontario; he was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Break and enter a place commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) CC
  • Mischief Under $5000 contrary to section 430(4) CC
  • Theft Over $5000 of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 334(a) CC
  • Break and enter a place and steal a firearm contrary to section 98(1)(b) CC
  • Break and enter a place with intent to commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(a) CC
  • Adult Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtain by crime contrary to section 96(a) CC
  • Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge contrary to section 145(5.1) CC
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine contrary to section 4(1) CDSA

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Hearst Ontario Court of Justice on October 12, 2016 to answer to the charges.
