Tammy Morison, President & CEO, North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation, has been appointed as the Ontario Representative of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) Canada Council and as board member of the Hospital Development Education Fund Canada. She was welcomed aboard in December by the AHP Canada Council.

The AHP is an international professional organization dedicated exclusively to developing the men and women who encourage charity in North America’s health care organizations, and the leading authority in standards, knowledge and leadership in health care development.

“We are extremely pleased that Tammy, who is a leader in fund development in our district will be able to share her skills, knowledge and enthusiasm with other health care organizations through her appointment as the Ontario Representative of AHP’s Canada Council,” says Guido Verrillo, Chair, North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.

AHP’s 5,000 members represent more than 2,200 health care facilities in the United States and Canada, and is comprised of professionals from all facets of health care fundraising, from executive directors and chief development officers, to major gift officers, annual campaign managers, event coordinators and grant writers.

“The AHP is the source for education, networking, information and research in health care philanthropy,” says Morison. “I’m thrilled to be part of the AHP Canada Council at a time when health care development is so vital.”

The AHP Canada Council speaks specifically to Canada’s health care environment and philanthropy needs, addressing health care philanthropy in Canada’s unique landscape, according to Morison. The Canada Council also helps organize the Convene Canada Conference, two days of focused sessions, networking and opportunities to learn from experts that will educate and inspire.

“The conference, scheduled for April 2016 in Montreal, is an excellent opportunity for professionals and volunteers involved in health care philanthropy to fine tune their development skills and gain new ideas, direction and inspiration that’s relevant to them and their team,” says Tammy Morison.

The Hospital Development and Education Fund (HDEF) of Canada provides scholarship assistance to members of AHP to help defray the cost to attend the AHP Institute for Healthcare Philanthropy (Madison Institute), the AHP Annual International Conference, or one of the AHP Spring conferences – AHP Convene Canada; AHP Leading Forward; or AHP Big Ideas in Healthcare Philanthropy.

In 2015, through the generosity of our members, the Hospital Development & Education Fund (HDEF) of Canada provided scholarship assistance up to $2,000 CAD to three Canadian members from funds raised through the HDEF of Canada.
