Local public school student appointed to Minister’s Student Advisory Council

The Near North District School Board,  in a news release says that W.J. Fricker Public School student, Michelle DeLoyde, has been selected to serve as a member of the Ontario Minister of Education's 2017-2018 Student Advisory Council.  

"I am excited to be a part of such an important initiative that provides students with a voice in their education," said Grade 8 student Michelle DeLoyde. 

There were over 480 applications this year for 60 spots on the Council. 

Students who serve on the Council will meet directly with Minister of Education Mitzie Hunter twice per year during their one-year term.  Students will provide insight and voice from the student perspective on engagement activities as well as Ministry policies, programs and practices.
