Local man faces DUI charge

On December 15, 2017, at 6:46 p.m., members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver.   

Officers located the vehicle in the City of North Bay, Ontario. 

When officers spoke to the driver, they smelled an odour of alcohol coming from the driver's breath and began an investigation. 

As a result of the police investigation, Normand LIARD, age 38, of North Bay, has been charged with Driving with More than 80mg of Alcohol in Blood, contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was issued a 90-day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. 

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear (PTA), and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 9, 2018.
