A total of $2,176 will benefit local services of The Alzheimer Society following a recent fundraising event in partnership with a retirement residence.

On Saturday, December 5th, over 300 people visited The Empire Christmas Bazaar, Craft & Bake Sale in the retirement residence’s Empress Ballroom.

Every table vendor made a donation to the Society and residents of The Empire chipped in by donating 100% of the proceeds from their knitted goods, crafts, and baked goods. The $1 admission to the bazaar also went to support the services.

“We want to thank everyone who supported us by visiting the event and especially the residents of The Empire for their generosity” says Ashlin, Volunteer Coordinator from the Alzheimer Society.  “We also must thank our staff and dedicated volunteers, as well as the staff at The Empire for bringing the event together. And of course we couldn’t do it without the wonderful vendors who brought their wide range of items.”

She adds that the funds go to good use. The money allows us to expand essential programs and support services like counseling, support groups, education, art and music therapy for the over 1500 people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia in North Bay and area, along with their caregivers
