Liquor readily available leads to charges

The officer stopped a vehicle travelling west bound on Chetwynd Road and following a police investigation, arrested the driver for impaired driving.

On Saturday February 27, at approximately 9:30 p.m. the Almaguin Highlands OPP was patrolling Chetwynd Road near Relative Road.  The officer stopped a vehicle travelling westbound on Chetwynd Road and following a police investigation, arrested the driver for impaired driving.

OPP charged Gordon Staley, 47 of Huntsville with the following offences:

  • Driving while ability impaired – motor vehicle, 
  • Fail or refuse to provide sample, 
  • Driving while under suspension, 
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

Staley was released from police custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday March 24, 2016 in Sundridge.
