For over 65 years, the Lions of North Bay and the surrounding area have partnered with local food banks to bring joy to the faces of children in need.

Last year provided toys and Christmas dinner to over 375 children in 400 families in Trout Creek, Powassan, Golden Valley, Restoule, Arnstein, Port Loring, Kearney, South River, Bonfield, Mattawa, Corbeil, Callander, Burk’s Falls and Sundridge.

"The Lions of the Telethon can only help these families through our partnerships. For over 10 years, Canadore's Media, Design and Dramatic Arts department has provided the manpower, the equipment, and the technical know how to create the Telethon. The Lions welcome the opportunity to provide students with the hands-on experience in producing a show. Canadore also provides the high-definition live stream feed for our website at www.lionschildrenstelethon.com," says Lion Joe Daniel in a news release.

Two new partnerships, Cogeco and Country 600 radio are involved this year.  Every year, the requests for support from the Telethon are increasing.

"Through broadcasting on Cogeco TV on channels 12 and 700 as well as over the radio on Country 600, we are looking to grow the reach of the Telethon and meet the increased need by hitting our target of $40,000.

Cogeco presented a donation today of $10,000 including $2,000 in cash and $8,000 in-kind services.

The Telethon this year is on Saturday, December 3rd, from 2 to 11 p.m. live from the Canadore Studios.

Returning hosts are Vicki Tyler and Dean Belanger.
