Jazz Sudbury search for next shining star returns with the Emerging Artists Showcase Searching for Ontario’s next great jazz artists. SUDBURY, ON – Jazz Sudbury is pleased to announce the launch of its annual online talent competition, The Emerging Artists Showcase. They are seeking talented up-and-coming Jazz artists who are ready to take their act to the main stage at this year’s annual Jazz Sudbury Festival. The Emerging Artists Showcase officially launched Monday March 23rd and will remain open for submissions until May 15th. Back for its seventh consecutive year, Jazz Sudbury is asking all emerging jazz solo artists or groups residing in Ontario to submit a three to five minute video performance to the Jazz Sudbury website for a chance to share the stage with the festival’s headline artists. Contestants will have the opportunity to win a $1000 Grand Prize and the spot in the festival lineup as the opening act performance on the main stage of the Jazz Sudbury Festival. With a renewed commitment to a vision of supporting and celebrating fresh, evolving talent, the 2015 edition of the EAS is offering even more performance opportunities and prizes to industry up and comers. A panel of industry greats will narrow down the entrants to three finalists who will be invited to perform at a stand-alone concert and headliner announcement event June 3rd. “We’ve been incredibly privileged by the talent and passion we’ve seen in past year’s submissions” Says Paul Lefebvre, President of Jazz Sudbury. “We want this year to really highlight the tremendous amount and quality of talent that exists in Ontario, and hope to provide opportunities for emerging jazz musicians to get their big break.” Following a final decision from the judges panel, the Emerging Artists Showcase winner will be declared and they will learn which headlining jazz greats they will share the Grace Hartman Amphitheatre stage with on September 10th. Applicants are asked to record an unedited 3-5 minute video showcasing their skills and upload it at contest.jazzsudbury.ca. The deadline to enter is May 15th, 2015. Entries are now being accepted, so warm up your chops and get the camera rolling and you could be sharing the stage with some of the best jazz artists in Canada!
