Correcitonal officers are standing outside Parker's Independent Grocers today. They aren't guarding any inmates, they are actually outside the grocery store next to the Northgate Shopping Centre raising money and gathering food for the Gathering Place.

The North Bay Jail is hosting Correction Cares About Communiites asking shoppers to bring a can and fill a van.

Correctional facility officials will be gathering non-perishable food donations until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Suggested items include peanut butter, coffee, pasta, pasta sauce, pancake mix and syrup.
