smoke detector kidde recalled 2016

Health Canada, Kidde is recalling 3.6 million Nighthawk Combination Smoke/CO detectors. (1.5 million were sold in Canada)

The recall indicates that the alarm can fail to chirp when it reaches its seven-year end-of-life if the batteries are replaced, leading consumers to believe it is still working.

This poses a risk of consumers not being alerted to a fire or CO incident in their home.

Sold from June 2004 to December 2010, Kidde has received eight reports of incidents with the recalled alarms.

No injuries have been reported. The smoke/CO alarms were eligible to bear the cULus Mark.
