Impaired truck driver arrested at scene of collision

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On June 4, 2015 the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 69 in Archipelago Township.

OPP, Emergency Services (EMS) and Carling Fire Department attended the scene. Police observed that a southbound truck crossed the centre line and struck the trailer of a northbound tractor trailer. Police investigation determined the truck driver had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the officer’s investigation, Karl KEESHIG, 57 years of age from Shawanaga First Nation, was arrested and charged with Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol, contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on July 9, 2015 to answer to his charges.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
