Impaired driving charge against North Bay man

The tests revealed that he had over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood

On April 2, at approximately 12:10 p.m., OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 11 in North Bay.     

Officers located the vehicle. 

After speaking with the driver, officers detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. The driver was arrested and brought to the North Bay OPP Detachment for breath tests. The tests revealed that he had over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

As a result of the police investigation, Frank Calcaterra, 72, of North Bay, has been charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol and
  • Driving with More Than 80 mg of Alcohol in Blood.

Calcaterra was issued a 90 day Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, Ontario, on April 17.
