News release: (NORTH BAY, ONT.) -- Canadore College officially began construction on the second phase of its Innovation Centre for Advanced Manufacturing (ICAMP) last week.

Plans for ICAMP 2.0 were formally announced in June 2015 in response to strong industry demand. The Centre’s first phase created a unique partnership arrangement focused on business development and expansion, allowing companies to conceptualize, design, prototype and improve or test new products for the commercial marketplace.

The expansion will allow the College to hire additional personnel to support project management and outreach, as well as purchase a 3D metal printer; design simulation software; advanced visualization and productivity tools; and other equipment to supplement current technologies.

Since opening the doors to ICAMP in 2013, more than 100 companies have shown an interest in using ICAMP to develop or refine new products and processes and more than 150 projects have been completed in this time frame. The Centre has also helped industry retain 16 jobs and create an additional 57 in the region’s economy.

The project is slated for completion in Spring 2016.
