NORTH BAY, ONTARIO – On Saturday, September 27, 2014 North Bay residents came out to support the Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay & Districts in the official North Bay launch of their national Coffee Break®fundraiser.

Neddy’s North Bay Hyundai and Compass Centre for Mental Health and Wellness co-hosted a BBQ and Car Wash and raised over $560.00. A big thank you to the staff of both businesses and the student volunteers from St. Joseph -Scollard Catholic Secondary School for their time and support.

The money raised at the event will remain in North Bay and will help support the frontline programs and services offered to the over 1,500 people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia and that is not counting the numerous family members and caregivers who clock millions of hours a year in unpaid care.

Demand for services is steadily climbing as the number of Canadians with dementia surges. Today 747,000 Canadians are living with dementia and an estimated 1.4 million will be affected by 2031. You can join the many schools, businesses, health care providers and other local organizations who are hosting 3rd party events in support of the Coffee Break® Campaign which runs until the end of November. For more information on how you can host an event call Julia at (705) 495-4342.
