Hitting snow banks and driving erratically draws attention of OPP

MAN CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On February 27, 2016, at 6:54 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Isabell Street in Parry Sound. A male was seen hitting snow banks and driving erratically. Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The officers determined the driver had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the officer’s investigation, Michael RAPSON, 19 years of age from Ancaster, was arrested and charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).
  • Driving with more than the 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the CC.
  • Young driver – B.A.C. above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
  • Careless driving contrary to the HTA.
  • Driver fail to surrender licence contrary to the HTA.
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 17, 2016 to answer to his charges. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On February 26, 2016, at 6:39 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 69 in The Archipelago Township. A male was seen weaving on the roadway and driving varying speeds. Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The officers determined the driver had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the officer’s investigation, Steven DETELIC, 59 years of age from Sudbury, was arrested and charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).
  • Driving with more than the 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the CC.

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 17, 2016 to answer to his charges. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

MAN CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING ON A MOTORIZED SNOW VEHICLE

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On February 27, 2016, at 12:05 p.m., members of the West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an unwanted person complaint on Pickerel River Road in Henvey Inlet First Nation. A intoxicated male was seen leaving on a snow machine. Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The officers determined the driver had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the officer’s investigation, Bernard MCQUABBIE, 43 years of age from Henvey First Nation, was arrested and charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired – motor vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code (CC).
  • Driving with more than the 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood contrary to the CC.
  • Driving while Disqualified – Provincial Suspension contrary to the CC.
  • Fail to display evidence of permit contrary to the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act (MSVA).
  • Drive motorized snow vehicle while licence suspended contrary to the MSVA.

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 17, 2016 to answer to his charges. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
