Local band Hi-Fi K9 is set to rock the Capitol Centre stage August 13 as part of a Sharedbenefit concert.

“I was in between making kids lunches and answering work e-mails and quickly checked my phone and saw a story about a virtual/online concert series at the Capitol Centre and a call for artists,” recalled Jonathan Cranston.

“The band had just recently re-integrated into each other’s bubbles and resumed weekly practice so I thought why not apply and see what happens. Then we quickly heard back that we’d be included and welcomed the chance to hopefully re-ignite the momentum we had going pre-Covid and get exposure to some new eyes and ears”.

“Everyone in the band has had a connection over the years as both patrons and performers to the Capitol Centre and we were all quite excited to get on stage again, even if the seats were empty” added Cranston. “We all understand the importance of a place like the Capitol Centre to the arts and the entire community, so the chance to partner with them in a situation that was mutually beneficial was a no brainer and we’re very thankful they’ve provided a platform for exposure for local musicians, hopefully, that focus and access to local talent continues well into the future.”

Hi-Fi K9 premieres on Youtube and the Capitol Centre’s Facebook page on Thursday August 13th at 7 p.m. This concert is free to enjoy but viewers will be invited to donate to capitolcentre.org/donate. All donations collected between August 13th and August 16th will be shared equally between H-iF iK9 and the Capitol Centre. This unique partnership with local musicians continues until the end of August.
