News Release: September 29, 2015 - On Saturday, October 3rd, 2015, Habitat for Humanity North Bay & Blue Sky Region is holding an open house for the general public and all interested community members at the site of its latest build - 6230 Highway 63 (about 10 minutes past 'The Green Store', 200m north of Daly's Rd on the west side.) Take the opportunity to drop by between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm to see what we've been up to over the past year - constructing our 4th building to house our 5th partner family.

That same day, at that same build site, we are having a volunteer day. From 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, any member of the community wishing to make a positive contribution to the lives and health of a local family can spend some time helping us build our most recent home. For those community members willing to lend a hand, simply send an email to [email protected] before Friday, October 2nd. expressing your interest and someone will be in touch.

Finally, Habitat North Bay wishes to encourage everyone to take a moment on October 5th, 2015 to contemplate the meaning of the word 'home'. The first Monday in October each year is designated "World Habitat Day" by the United Nations with the intention of promoting the 'basic right of all to adequate shelter'. Habitat for Humanity understands the benefits that accrue from having simple, decent shelter - better health, safer children, more secure employment, greater education, increased social and community participation. Spend just a moment to think about what having a home has meant for you, and what it could mean for those currently trapped in sub-standard, unhealthy, dangerous living situations.

For more information on our open house or volunteering on the build site please send an email to [email protected].
