FedNor will spend $400,000 in the Township of Armor to support the activities of the Almaguin Community Economic Development Department ( ACED) aimed at creating sustainable economic growth in the region.

ACED currently has nine members from across the East Parry Sound region, including the townships of Perry, Armour, Ryerson, Strong and Joly; the villages of Burk's Falls, Sundridge and Strong; as well as the Almaguin Highlands Chamber of Commerce.

This project will support the ongoing operations of ACED and its members and help strengthen existing partnerships among group members. It will also help attract new member municipalities, given the good results obtained by ACED since its creation in 2019.

The funding will build on the solid foundations of economic development established by ACED members. ACED will encourage continued investment in the region as well as the delivery of long-term economic development services along the Highway 11 corridor between Muskoka and North Bay.

The direct benefits expected to be generated by today's investment include the continued participation of eight municipalities and the support of six others to promote community economic development across the region.

The grant will also make it possible to maintain nine existing alliances with regional partners participating in the economic development of the region and to raise more than $350,000 from municipal partners and businesses. In addition, the project will retain two jobs, develop an additional industrial park in the region, and carry out an internal study on housing in the region.

"The announcement will help us build and grow strong relationships among members of the Almaguin Highlands Community Economic Development Department, which will allow us to form additional partnerships and attract new businesses and new investments in the region," stated Wendy Whitwell, Almaguin Highlands Community Economic Development Committee Chair and Armor Township Councilor
